chasing dreams

i am aware that today am suppose to finish off that song below. however i realized there is something more important than that.

i had my Graduation Day in school. it was not done on a large scale but i must admit that those last few words from my teachers and my principal, Mr Tan Teck Hock, drove home the point.

i personally feel that my principal is the first of whom i respect in college. In year 1, his words seemed strange. it was simply due to the lack of vision. then in year 2, somewhere in July, he gave us a talk during our CT period. it was called Chasing Dreams. it was one of the most inspirational speeches i have ever heard apart from Martin Luther King's " I Have A Dream". but i could draw the parallels.

Mr Tan was reaching out to us, teaching us how to dream, chase the dream, and live the dream. For this to happen, first and foremost, we need a purpose and meaning in life. This was when he had my fullest attention. i was keen on the various sports analogies which he was using to demonstrate his points.

I then began to wonder what my purpose in life was. where was i heading and why?

i realized it was time to focus.sacrifice.finally to be rewarded. it was one of the most meaningful day in my college for 2 years. of course, i have not expressed all that my principal had said that day. the essence of his speech can only be appreciated if you were present in the lecture theater on that day.

as for you, the reader, whatever i have mentioned above is the gist of it. if you are able to make sense out of it, and apply it in your life, i can only wish you good luck in your endeavors because you have done the right thing.

recently, having watched the Formula One in Singapore, i have been rest assured that dreams can be made possible.
in order to achieve them, I have to keep trying different strategies. i also work with an efficient team of teachers and friends. when i feel worn out, i have to energize and get back on the track. it does not matter which grid position i start from. at the end of the day, i will still live my dream.

having said all these, i am someone who strongly believes in character, change and destiny. i came across 3 quotes which express my ideas explicitly.

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

- Frank Outlaw-

All change is a miracle to contemplate; but it is a miracle which is taking place every instant.

- Henry David Thoreau-

Destiny is not matter of chance. It is a matter of choice.

- W.J Bryan-

I thank you for taking time to read this.

i sincerely hope it fires and inspires you.
